Pipeline

Where interactive demos fit in your funnel. Hint: not just the homepage

Most teams build one interactive demo, embed it on the homepage, and call the project done. That placement is fine. It is also the least imaginative of at least six spots where a click-through demo earns pipeline.

1. The homepage: show, then tell

Above the fold, a demo answers the only question that matters: what is this and what does it look like? Keep the homepage demo short, five to seven steps, ungated. Its job is comprehension, not lead capture. Gate it and you will bounce the very people you built it for.

2. Paid landing pages: match the ad's promise

If the ad says "see how pipeline scoring works," the landing page should open the pipeline-scoring demo, not a generic tour. One demo per campaign theme. This is where demo personalization pays for itself, because relevance is what quality scores and conversion rates are made of.

3. Outbound: the demo link beats the calendar link

"Grab 30 minutes" asks a stranger for their scarcest resource. "Click through the product in 90 seconds" asks for almost nothing and self-selects the interested. Reps who lead with a demo link book fewer, better calls. Gate this one lightly, or not at all, and watch who finishes it.

4. Post-discovery follow-up: arm the champion

After a good first call, your contact has to re-pitch you to their boss. Send a demo scoped to the problems they raised, gated so you can see which stakeholders actually clicked. Three views from the same domain is buying-committee behavior, and your CRM should know it.

5. Onboarding: the demo as the first tutorial

The same tour that sold the product can teach it. New users who click through core workflows before touching real data activate faster and file fewer "where is the button" tickets. Reuse the sales demo with the persuasion turned down and the specificity turned up.

6. Docs and changelogs: show the feature, not a paragraph

Every feature announcement that says "you can now bulk-edit tags" should link a ten-second demo of bulk-editing tags. Release notes with embedded demos get read, forwarded, and actually adopted.

The pattern

Gate demos where intent is high and identity is valuable: follow-up, mid-funnel content. Leave them open where attention is scarce: homepage, ads, outbound. And since every placement needs a slightly different demo, the constraint is production speed, which is exactly the constraint AI generation removes. When demos take minutes to produce, the funnel gets one wherever a question lives.
